The Big Brothers mentoring program provides kids and young people with a role model to talk to and share the experiences of growing up with. Through regular outings, a relationship is developed between the mentor and the mentee, which is built on trust and common interests and is supported by our experienced case-workers. The result is a life-changing experience for both the mentor and the mentee.The Big Brothers mentoring program usually requires two regularly scheduled outings a month of a few hours each and a minimum of a one year commitment. The matches are assigned based on gender.

We are seeking youth participants for the Co-Creating a Sustainable BC initiative, starting this summer in the Sea-to-Sky Corridor, designed for youth between the ages of 16 and 30. Youth will be engaged in a nine-month long initiative to collaborate on sustainability projects and co-create new visions for resilient and inclusive communities. They will participate in bi-weekly dialogues exploring topics such as the meaning of sustainability, the characteristics of leadership, and regional issues. At the end, youth will also have an opportunity to develop their own projects to address environmental, social, and/or economic sustainability gaps in the community, potentially explored through a climate change lens.
Gibbons Whistler Festivals & Event – Backyard Après
Gibbons Whistler is recruiting volunteers for the 1st ever Backyard Après: A Community Music Series in Squamish on June 29th from 2 PM – 9 PM. We are looking for volunteers, who are 19+, to help at the Main Event for a variety of shifts from 12PM – 9 p.m, as well as on Friday June 28, 2019 for set up. Volunteers will have an opportunity to help out with site set-up and tear down, brewery assistance and more. All volunteers will receive an event t-shirt, food voucher for food on site and the opportunity to be part of an amazing team.

We are looking for Scout Leaders who plan and facilitate programs and adventures with youth at 4th Squamish Scout Group. Our volunteers are exposed to a wide range of different activities and new experiences themselves. You don’t need previous experience in Scouting, just energy and enthusiasm. The screening process includes a personal interview, the provision of three personal references, and a Police Record Check. We provide training and support.

The Squamish Food bank supports people in our community with food. We are open on the first 3 Wednesdays of every month to the public as well as other days in-between for sorting, restocking, rotating stock and setting up for our Food Bank days. We also pick up donations and do deliveries in our van. We are looking for volunteers who are available on Tuesdays or Wednesdays for a variety of tasks. We have a great team of volunteers and have no doubt that you would enjoy the experience.

There are many heritage pieces in the park that would love to get restored or cleaned! the WCRHP is located on a 12 acre property with plenty of opportunities to volunteer, from gardening, restoration, maintenance, or you could even learn to drive our mini train! Whistler Adaptive in conjunction with Brennan Park is facilitating a Leisure Buddy Program for children with special needs to be able to join their programs. It entails accompanying a child or young adult with a disability while they participate in a recreational program. The format of these opportunities can vary widely from program to program. Some will run on a weekly basis through a season where others will be a short few days of programming lasting less than a week. Becoming a Leisure Buddy for a young individual in your community can make a direct impact on their well being as well as create a lasting invaluable bond.  To be a buddy for a child with a disability is rewarding, challenging at times, but always an experience worth having.
